The 2nd annual Clean-Up event sponsored by the West Perth Energy & Environment Committee took place, in conjunction with Earth Week, on Saturday April 20th. The day's activities were organized by West Perth Energy & Environment Committee member Patty Kehl. The main thrust was to clean-up along the banks of the Thames River. This year's event as well as last year's was conducted in cooperation with N.O.A.H. (Natural Outdoor Activity Heritage) Conservation Club and through the efforts of N.O.A.H., we have been able to provide garbage bags, work gloves and water bottles for all participants for each of our two clean-up events.
All the volunteers were provided with a barbeque lunch at noon. The Municipality of West Perth provided the hamburgers and bottled water while Valumart supplied the wieners, buns and condiments. White milk, chocolate milk and cheese stick snacks were provided by Parmalat. Helen Hill, Patty Kehl, Linda Jones and Gerry Kehl prepared the food for well over 60 volunteers.
All participants had the opportunity to place their name in a draw for gifts, generously donated, and the winners of the local prizes were:
